Beaver Scouts...
Are Friendly, they always say Hello, Please and Thank You!
Are Kind, they work hard and help their family and friends.
- The Beaver Scout Law
The Mafikeng Beaver section is a fun and exciting group for ages 6-8. Our Beavers meet Thursday evenings in Howth.
Beavers take part in many activities and outings throughout the year, with two of the high points a sleepover in the autumn and a camping trip in the spring. It is an exciting place for children to learn new outdoor skills and develop new friendships. Beavers learn through fun and through doing!
Working together in small teams called lodges, Beavers help to shape their own activity programme. In facing new challenges together they learn communication skills, leadership, responsibility, and most important respect for one another.
Badges are a huge motivation for Beavers to overcome challenges and being awarded badges is an exciting moment of pride. Beavers can earn adventure skills badges in several areas of outdoor skills including camping, backwoods, pioneering, hillwalking, and emergencies (first aid). Beavers can also earn special interest badges, tailored to each Beaver's own personal interests, in the areas of personal skills, physical recreation, adventure journey, community involvement, and environment. And finally, Beavers in their final year (8 years old) can attempt to earn the Chief Scout Award, the biggest challenge and highest honour available to a Beaver Scout.
Beavers are the starting point of the Scouting journey and where the love of Scouting is kindled.
